UK to Spain Removals

Spain presents a broader delivery challenge than almost any other European destination.

We cover mainland Spain and all Costa regions by road, Balearic Islands via coordinated sea freight, and Canary Islands via Atlantic ocean freight under the islands’ separate customs regime. Everything from survey to delivery is managed as a single process, with fixed pricing and one coordinator throughout.

Our UK to Spain Moving Process

Survey and Quote

Your move starts with a survey confirming shipment volume, destination region, transport option, island logistics if required, and customs documentation needs including NIE status. Your fixed quote covers UK collection through to Spanish delivery including island onward transport where applicable.

Export Packing and Inventory Preparation

Export packing is completed at your UK property using materials suited to the road distance and onward handling involved in a UK to Spain move. Furniture, fragile items, and high-value belongings are wrapped and packed to the standard required for Spanish customs inventory and safe delivery at destination.

Transport and Customs Processing

For mainland and Balearic destinations, your consignment travels by road into Spain and is processed through Spanish import customs. NIE verification, residency documentation, and inventory declarations are coordinated with our Spanish partners before arrival at the border. For Canary Islands deliveries, the consignment travels to a Spanish port for Atlantic ocean freight and is processed through the islands’ own customs authority on arrival.

Delivery and Unloading in Spain

Delivery is completed by our established Spanish partner network to your address. Whether it is a city apartment in Barcelona, a villa on the Costa del Sol, a rural finca in Andalusia, or a property on one of the Spanish islands, your Trunk Logistics coordinator remains your single point of contact through to confirmed delivery.

Storage Before Your Spain Move

If your shipping date and UK move-out date do not align, or your Spanish property is not immediately ready, we provide secure storage at our own four Essex facilities. We collect from anywhere in the UK and hold your belongings until your confirmed Spain departure date. This applies equally to mainland Spain, Balearic Islands, and Canary Islands moves where sea freight schedules can add lead time between UK departure and island delivery.

Part Load And Dedicated Vehicle Removals To Spain From The UK

Part Load Groupage Removals To Spain From The UK

Part load groupage for UK to Spain moves is priced on the cubic meterage your consignment occupies, suiting studio, one, and two bedroom relocations where cost efficiency takes priority over a fixed departure date. Transit times to mainland Spanish destinations are typically seven to fourteen working days depending on delivery region, with Barcelona and the north east at the shorter end and Andalusia and the Costa del Sol extending that window. For Balearic island addresses, onward sea freight from the Spanish mainland is coordinated as part of the same groupage move. Part load consolidation to the Balearics runs fortnightly, with collection to delivery taking up to four weeks. For Canary Islands destinations, part load moves travel to a Spanish port for Atlantic ocean freight, transit time is approximately one month from collection.

Dedicated Vehicle Removals To Spain From The UK

A dedicated vehicle removal to Spain from the UK gives your consignment exclusive road transport from UK collection to the Spanish delivery point, carrying up to 100m³.  We cover complete house moves to any mainland address, from a Barcelona city apartment to a Costa Blanca villa or an Andalusian countryside property. Transit times to mainland Spain are typically three to five days. Dedicated removals to the Balearic Islands are typically completed in around five days. Canary Islands deliveries via ocean freight average around one month, confirmed at survey stage.

Pre-Shipment Storage For UK To Spain Moves

Pre-shipment storage for a UK to Spain move is held at our Essex depot when your Spanish purchase has not yet completed or your move-in date is unconfirmed. Your consignment is collected on schedule and released to Spain once your address is ready. The cost is confirmed at survey stage and in-country storage after delivery is arranged through our IAM accredited Spanish partners.

Export Packing And Customs Support For UK To Spain Moves

UK To Spain Customs Requirements After Brexit

UK to Spain removals require UK export documentation and a Spanish import declaration through the AEAT, the Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria. British nationals relocating permanently to Spain also require an NIE number before customs clearance can be completed, confirmed as part of your survey so it does not cause delays at the border.  Canary Islands deliveries operate under a fundamentally different customs framework. The islands sit outside both the EU customs territory and EU VAT area, meaning all arriving shipments are processed as non-EU imports under a full customs declaration, a Single Administrative Document (DUA), regardless of origin. Rather than standard Spanish IVA, the Canary Islands apply their own local indirect tax, IGIC, and in some cases AIEM, a supplementary import tax applied to protect local production. A T2LF document is required to confirm EU customs status for goods and avoid tariffs on the crossing. Our Spain relocation guide covers NIE applications, empadronamiento, and AEAT documentation in full.

Spain Customs Clearance Handled Within Your Removal

UK to Spain customs documentation is managed by Trunk Logistics from survey stage through to AEAT submission at the Spanish border. Your move coordinator prepares the inventory and export paperwork before your consignment departs and our certified Spanish partners manage import declaration at the receiving end. Our UK to EU customs guide covers Transfer of Normal Residence relief across all EU member states.

Export Packing For UK To Spain Road And Island Transit

Balearic and Canary Islands moves require sea freight stages beyond the mainland road leg, and packing standards account for the full journey including those additional handling points.

Moving From The UK To Cities And Regions Across Spain

Moving To Madrid And Central Spain

UK to Madrid relocations are led by corporate transfers, diplomatic postings, and professionals in finance and law. We deliver to the capital and all surrounding comunidad addresses, as well as Toledo, Salamanca, and Valladolid. Vehicles enter via the French border and cross the central plateau to reach Madrid, with transit times confirmed at survey stage.

Removals To Barcelona And The North East

UK to Barcelona removals are our highest volume Spain route, with demand across technology, architecture, design, and international business. We serve Barcelona city, wider Catalonia, and north east addresses including Tarragona, Girona, and the Costa Brava. Proximity to the French border makes Barcelona transit times among the shortest on the Spain network.

Moves To The Costa Blanca And Valencia Region

Moving from the UK to the Costa Blanca is Spain’s most active relocation route for UK buyers, with Alicante, Benidorm, Torrevieja, Javea, and Calpe all within our Valencia region delivery area. We cover the full province from Valencia city south to the Murcia border, including inland towns. Our moving to Spain guide covers NIE applications, empadronamiento, and the property purchase process for those still in the planning stage.

Relocating To The Costa del Sol And Andalusia

Moving from the UK to the Costa del Sol draws high demand from Essex and the South East for removals to Marbella, Málaga, and Estepona. We cover the full Costa del Sol coastline through to Nerja, and the wider Andalusia region including Seville, Granada, and Almería. It is the furthest mainland destination from the French border. Part load transit to Andalusia and the Costa del Sol sits at the longer end of the seven to fourteen working day mainland range, with dedicated vehicle moves taking three to five days from the UK.

Removals To The Balearic Islands

UK to Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, and Formentera removals combine road transport from your UK address to the Spanish mainland with an onward sea freight stage to your destination island. The port used for the island crossing depends on the specific destination and trip, this is confirmed at survey stage, and written into your fixed quote with no cost additions after booking.

For part load groupage moves to the Balearics, consolidation runs fortnightly. Collection to delivery for a Balearic part load move takes up to four weeks, reflecting both the consolidation cycle and the sea freight leg. If your move is time-sensitive, a dedicated vehicle removal to the Balearics is typically completed in around five days.

The sea freight stage is not arranged separately it is planned, priced, and coordinated by your Trunk Logistics move coordinator as part of the same removal, through to confirmed delivery at your island address.

Moves To The Canary Islands

Removals from the UK to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro operate under a customs and logistics framework that is fundamentally different from mainland Spain and the Balearics.

Every arriving shipment is processed as a non-EU import, requiring a DUA customs declaration and a T2LF document to confirm EU customs status for the goods. IGIC applies in place of Spanish IVA, and AIEM may apply depending on the items being moved. Full detail on Canary Islands customs requirements is set out in the customs section above.

The logistics route is road from your UK address to a Spanish port, then Atlantic ocean freight to your destination island. Average transit time for a Canary Islands delivery is around one month. Trunk Logistics manages all customs documentation and coordinates the ocean freight leg and island delivery through our established Canary Islands partner network. All seven islands are within our delivery network.

Collecting From Anywhere in the UK for Spain Removals

Our UK removals service covers Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Northern England, the Midlands, and every postcode beyond Essex and the South East. Your collection address is priced into your Spain removal quote and will not change between survey and move day.

Frequently Asked Questions - UK to Spain Removals

Yes, if you are relocating permanently to Spain. The NIE is the Spanish tax identification number required for customs clearance of household goods imported as part of a residential relocation. Without it, your shipment cannot clear Spanish customs on arrival. We confirm NIE status during your survey so this is in place before your consignment departs the UK.

Yes. Balearic Islands deliveries cover Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, and Formentera. Canary Islands deliveries cover all seven islands including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro. Island transport is coordinated as part of your removal and included in your fixed quote. Transit times differ significantly between island groups with Balearic part load moves taking up to four weeks, dedicated moves around five days; Canary Islands deliveries average around one month. Both are confirmed at survey stage.

Mainland part load moves typically complete in 7–14 working days. Dedicated vehicle moves to mainland destinations are generally 3–5 days. Balearic Islands part load moves take up to four weeks, with dedicated vehicle around five days. Canary Islands deliveries average around one month. Exact timelines for your specific destination are confirmed during your survey.

Part load groupage is the most economical choice for moves below a full vehicle load such as a one or two bedroom move, a partial household, or a single room relocation. You pay only for the space your shipment occupies. For Costa or island destinations where part load consolidation is less frequent, your coordinator will confirm realistic timelines alongside the cost comparison.

Yes. Trunk Logistics collects from anywhere across the UK including Scotland, Wales, Northern England, the Midlands, and all areas beyond Essex and the South East. Collection logistics are confirmed during your survey and factored into your fixed door-to-door quote.

Customs documentation guidance is provided as part of your move planning and coordinated with our Spanish partners on the import side. You do not need to appoint a separate Spanish customs agent. Documentation requirements including NIE, residency confirmation, inventory structure, are all confirmed during your survey before packing begins.

Pre-shipment storage at our secure Essex facilities is available for exactly this situation. Your belongings are collected as planned, held at our storage site, and dispatched for Spain when your purchase completes and your move-in date is confirmed. Storage is priced by volume and duration and will be confirmed during your survey alongside the removal cost.

For relocations to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, furniture and personal effects moved as part of a genuine permanent relocation qualify for full relief from import duty and Spanish IVA under Transfer of Normal Residence rules. To qualify, your NIE must be in place, your residency documentation must confirm the relocation is genuine, and the items must have been in your ownership before the move. These conditions are confirmed at survey stage as part of your documentation preparation.

For Canary Islands destinations the position is different. Customs tariffs are generally avoided provided a T2LF document is in place. However, IGIC and potentially AIEM apply as local taxes regardless of Transfer of Normal Residence status. The amounts involved depend on the goods being moved and are not equivalent to the full IVA rate on the mainland. Your move coordinator will confirm the applicable tax position for your specific Canary Islands destination during your survey.
